The first technique you will ever learn, and the last one you will ever perfect.
Gyaku Zuki, or Reverse Punch is the bread and butter of all karate styles. It is so important that around 75% of all techniques scored in competition are Reverse Punch.
There are many different variations of Reverse Punch, however our dojo focuses on the sport karate style of doing this punch. (I have done it traditionally, and many different ways, however I know that I punch the hardest and fastest when I do it the sport karate way)
the gyaka zuki was executed well from my perspective because: the speed at which his arm moved was uniform, by that i mean, it wasnt exaggerated and as far as i can see, there is no visible tension. i have a tournament this saturday, there is very little time left for sparring but i will give it a try and let you know.
