WHY CURRAN’S KARATE

My name is Sensei Ron Curran, head of Curran’s Karate.  I’ve been involved in Martial Arts since I was ten years old and started teaching as an assistant instructor when I was thirteen.  I am on an unstoppable mission to help the children of our community achieve academic success, gain confidence, increase their self-esteem, avoid peer pressure, stay fit, and live a healthy lifestyle.

I have a secret to share with you.  I’ve already done it and I continue to do it everyday with kids just like yours and we can do it for your child.  Imagine how you will feel when your child becomes unstoppable at achieving all of the positive things life has to offer and unstoppable at avoiding all of the negative things life has to offer.  With our exclusive Curran’s Karate program not only will your child receive all of the benefits that I just spoke about and more from our program, they will love doing it.

I GUARANTEE IT!

This is the single best thing my kids have ever done-and they’ve done lots of great things.
Both of them are Blackbelts in Karate, and when they received their Blackbelt, both of them shed tears of pride and accomplishment that I’m not sure I will ever see again.
My 12 year old had to be interviewed for an assignment at school and one of the questions he was asked was, “what is the item you treasure most?”, his answer was his Blackbelt.
My 16 year old was the Provincial Champion in BC this past year – a guy who thought he wasn’t competitive, walking taller now with his Gold medal.

Curran’s Karate is so much more than punching and kicking, it is a family. You’ll never know how much your kids could get out of this until you try it!

My 12 year old son started at Currans Karate in 2008. He was 9 yrs old , and quite a handful.
However, within months of starting karate, I could already see a positive change in him. He was more confident in himself, did better in school, made new friends. Currans Karate has done so much in all areas of his life, from teaching what’s right and wrong and teaching respect, to knowing how to handle yourself in the “real world” But it doesn’t stop at just my son. Our 6 year old daughter practices at home with him.I’VE even learnt a few things just by observing his classes.
So it IS a family. Something i can say we are very proud to be a part of.

I like the way that Ron Curran is teaching karate to kids and adults…He is a personnal coach, really knowing his students, their strength and weakness…encouraging everyone to surpass oneself and reach his goals. I am doing karate for training, for art, for self defence and as well for the values Ron teaches to the children, a kind of reminder for adults…Every time I am doing karate, I boost my energy, improve my physical condition and I feel positive…which is so good for health…Thank you Ron to be such an excellent teacher.

It’s interesting to see what our son does when he thinks no one is watching. He practices karate – everywhere. He was waiting for a friend to join us on an outing and he started doing kata, combinations and push-ups in their walkway! Karate is clearly something he loves. It’s part of his psyche – something that builds his confidence, enhances his focus and makes him, I believe, a better person. Thank you, Sensei Ron, for being part of the village that helps us raise our son.

  5. John B says:

I sat watching both of my son’s for a year before I got up enough COURAGE to join them in the Family Class they had been attending at Curran’s.

I have watched my boy’s become more focused, complete their goals with pride and have had the ability to use lesson’s from class to explain the facts of everyday life.

Karate has brought our relationship much closer together. We have a common bond and a common goal that we are pursuing together one belt at a time.

    Maybe Mom will join soon!

      Hi John,

That would be great if Eva was to join. I think it is really neat watching the bond you all get out of class. Even yesterday it was awesome to see you training with Cole. The best part was him helping you with your technique and then you helping him. See you in class!

Hi Sensei Ron, just wanted to share an “out of the dojo and into the world” moment with you, while we were at the spray park today. Tessa came to over to sit with me for a minute, in a low beach chair, which was on a small incline. She toppled over backwards, but while still in the chair, flung out her arms and tucked her chin into her chest, executing a perfect break fall! We all had a laugh instead of tears or injury, thanks to you being on her about her break falls. I loved that it was so instinctive for her. Thanks again.

If it’s good for my son, it’s good for me!

Curran’s Karate has been apart of our family for 5 years, and I’ve got the bruised to prove it. As a grade 4 student at EME, my son Marcus came home from school one day and declared that we show him some respect, for he was starting on a path to his black belt. Little did we know back then that this pursuit would become such a positive influence across all aspects of his life. Discipline, Focus, Strength, Honesty … and yes respect that he demonstrates daily. Thanks Sensei Ron.

My daughter and I have now started at the Dojo. Believe me, it looks easier from the sidelines but, little by little, I’m beginning to appreciate what captivated Marcus just 5 years ago. I’d encourage anyone reading this to come out and give it a go – for your sons and daughters, or for yourself.

    Greetings Ron
I just wanted to take a minute to express my thanks for the karate class and your instruction. You have created an amazing culture in the Dojo. I love watching you work with the tiny tigers and encourage them. They look up to you so much! And then too see you fiercely challenge other students that are not bringing their best – and perhaps they don’t even know their best because they have gotten buy with much less in their life.
Your teaching really works because of your commitment to and your caring for all your students.
Taylor wants to frame her certificate – it has real meaning to her and by extension our entire family! Thanks for challenging and supporting her.
Hallie is just as proud of her accomplishment – having never experienced this level of difficulty before and coming through it!
Carolyn does not lack intensity and I wish I had her technical ability.
One note from me – perhaps to keep me humble – on my certificate it reads I ”attained the rank of first level junior white belt”
    All the best
    George

    Dear Sensei Ron,
I just wanted to say thank you once again for your subtle adaptations to help Nico to be successful. He was very proud yesterday of himself and we sure do appreciate your support.

  10. Jennifer Dutheil says:

    Hi Sensei Ron,
Thank you so much for the very rewarding experience you provided for Shyane and Jordan!  Jordan was “whoo-hoo-ing” all night, exclaiming, “I did it! I passed my first belt test!” and Shyane is very keen on continuing with Karate.  When Jordan’s Nana congratulated him, he piped up, “It’s because I focussed and used my diligence!” Hearing that from my 4 year old son – wow! – a testament of the positive influence you and your classes are having on the children. Their success could not have happened at a better time – we can celebrate their achievements amidst a lot of life’s challenges, and for them to persevere and try their best while recuperating from a cold is really something to admire.  You know how to bring out the best in children, and I want to thank you again for sharing so much of yourself and doing what you do.
Also, I was wondering about the photos taken at the belt testing – are they available for purchase?  I missed taking still photos of the children receiving their belts and we would love the photo taken of you and the children.  We’ve set up a “Karate Room” for the kids and we are excited to display their certificates and pictures of their achievements.
    Thank you,
    Jennifer Dutheil

    Hi Sensei Ron,

I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for your contribution to the growth of Tyson. He has absolutely loved his time with you and your entire team and the lessons have been invaluable. It is very evident that this Dojo and the children that attend it is a passion for you!! We will miss our time with you and can only hope to find a Dojo that strives to teach the same messages as Curran’s Karate.

    Thank you again,

    Karyn Tennant
